SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Purpose/Mission
The purpose of the NHRA Scholarship Program is to foster excellence in human resources by encouraging and assisting in the professional development of our members.
General Information
• NHRA-OC will present up to $3,000 in awards per year.
• Each award will not exceed $ 1,000 (tuition, fees and books only).
• Applicants who receive reimbursement from an employer or other source are eligible to receive an amount that matches the applicant-paid portion up to $ 1,000
• Scholarship winners pay fees in advance and will receive reimbursement upon proof of completion with a grade of C or better , or when appropriate a certificate of accomplishment.
• Scholarships will be applied to courses taken within one year from the date of award or will be forfeited.
Eligibility
• Applicants are enrolled in (or planning to enroll in) an HR or business-related class at a recognized educational institution in a graduate, undergraduate or HR certificate program.
• Professional development courses or seminars are also considered eligible if they advance the applicant's skills in the HR profession.This includes courses or seminars that offer PHR/SPHR Continuing Education Units (CEUs) .
• Applicants are currently members in good standing of NHRA with a minimum membership of six months. At the discretion of the Board, up to $1,000 in scholarships per year may be awarded to non-members with part of the award going toward NHRA-OC membership dues.

• The Scholarship Selection Committee will review all applications.
• Scholarship recipients will be notified of the decision no later than 30 days after application submission.
Selection Criteria
• Course taken is applicable to furthering a career in human resources.
• Applicant has a demonstrated commitment to the field of human resources.
• The applicant has clearly thought out and expressed how the knowledge gained will be utilized.
Selection Committee
• The Professional Development Chair and two additional NHRA members will review all applications.
